Application procedures for April 2022 admission such as schedules or selection procedures might be changed due to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease. At YNU, international students are admitted under “Yokohama Global Education Program (YGEP)” YGEP-N1 seeks international students with Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 level of Japanese by “Standard Admission” and “Pre-arrival Admission”. The students will study the standard curriculum with Japanese students in Japanese. YGEP-N2 seeks international students with JLPT N2 level of Japanese living abroad by Pre-arrival Admission. The students will study Japanese language and culture intensively during the first year and study their specialized areas with Japanese students in Japanese from the second year onwards. In either case, students are NOT required to take the JLPT prior to their application. You can find the fields of study that are available at YNU from here.

To promote the acceptance of academically excellent international students and provide financial support after their admission to YNU, a new tuition waiver program has been established for privately financed international students who enter YNU in or after April 2020. For details please refer here. Applicants must submit the “Application Form/ Expense Plan Form” to the undergraduate college to which they apply for admission. The application period and procedures of the relevant undergraduate college is described in the application guidelines.
